How to Use
Take this medicine only as directed by your doctor, to benefit your condition as much as possible. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doc tor ordered.

You may have to take Zoloft for 4 weeks or longer before you begin to feel better. Your doctor should check your progress at regular visits during this time. What is this medicine
Zoloft is prescribed for major depressive disorder—a persistently low mood that interferes with everyday living. Symptoms may include loss of interest in your usual activities, disturbed sleep, chang in appetite, constant fidgeting or lethargic movement, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty thinking or concentrating, and recurrent thoughts of suicide.

Side Effects of This Medicine
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
- jaw, neck, and back muscle spasms
- slow or difficult speech
- shuffling walk
- persistent fine tre mor or inability to sit still
- fever, chills, sore throat, or flu-like symptoms
- difficulty breathing or swallowing
- severe skin rash
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
- irre gular heartbeat

Management of Overdoses:

- hair loss
- changes in sex drive or ability
- drowsiness
- excessive tiredness
- difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- diarrhea
- vomiting
- rapid pou nding or irregular heartbeat

Precautions Before Using This Medicine
Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline [e.g., Elavil], amoxapine [e.g., Asendin], clomipramine [e.g., Anafranil], desipramine [e.g., Pertofrane], doxepin [e.g., Sinequan], imipramine [e.g., Tofranil ], nortriptyline [e.g., Aventyl], protriptyline [e.g., Vivactil], trimipramine [e.g., Surmontil])—Higher blood levels of these medicines may occur, which may increase the chance of developing unwante effects. Your doctor may check the blood level of the tricyclic antidepressant, and may change the dose of either these medicines or Zoloft. Also, taking Zoloft with amitriptyline, clomipramine, or i mipramine may increase the chance of developing the serotonin syndrome

Psychiatric Disorders: - Infrequent: Abnormal dreams, aggressive reaction, amnesia, apathy, delusion, depersonalization, depression, aggravated depression, emotional lability, euphoria, hallucination, neurosis, paranoid reaction, suicide attempt (including suicidal ideation), teeth-grinding, abnormal thinking. Rare: Hysteria, somnambulism withdrawal syndrome.
