What is this Drug
Allegra-D is an antihistamine and decongestant combination used to relieve congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes due to colds, flu, or hay fever. Allegra-D works against the naturally occurring chemic al histamine in the body. Fexofenadine prevents sneezing; runny nose; itching, watery eyes; and other allergic symptoms. ?Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant. It constricts (shrinks) blood vessels (vein s and arteries). By decreasing blood flow, it decreases congestion. Allegra ( Fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine ) is used to relieve symptoms of allergic conditions.

How should this medicine be used?
Antihistamines are used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of your medical problem. Take them only as directed. Do not take more of them and do not take them more often than recommended on the label, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. To do so may increase the chance of side effects.

Dosing—

- The dose of an antihistamine will be different for different patients. Follow y ur doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of antihistamines. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Precautions while Using this Medicine
Before taking fexofenadine,

- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to fexofenadine or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescript ion medications you are taking, especially cold or allergy medications, erythromycin (E-Mycin), ketoconazole (Nizoral), and vitamins.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney diseas e.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking fexofenadine, call your doctor.
if you are having surgery, incl uding dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking fexofenadine

Side Effects of This Medicine
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if the following side effect occurs:

- Less common or rare
Less frequent or rare with azatadine, cetirizine, clemastine, cyproheptadine, desloratadine, dexchlorphenira mine, diphenhydramine, or loratadine

Fast or irregular heartbeat; fever; abdominal or stomach pain; burning; chills; clay-colored stools or dark urine; cough; diarrhea; difficulty swa llowing; dizziness; fast heartbeat; fever; headache; hives; itching;

Other Medicines
Check with your doctor before combining Allegra with erythromycin (E.E.S., Ery-Tab, PCE) or ketoconazole (Nizoral). These drugs may increase Allegra's effects.

Allegra-D should never be take n within 2 weeks of using an MAO-inhibitor drug such as the antidepressants Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate. Also check with your doctor before combining it with the following:

- Mecamylamine ( Inversine)
- Methyldopa (Aldomet)
- Reserpine (Diupress, Hydropres)
