Significant Interactions:
When you are taking Diflucan, it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:
- Quinidine (e.g., Quinidex) or
- Ranitidine (e.
g., Zantac) or
- Sucralfate (e.g., Carafate) or
- Trimeprazine (e.g., Temaril)¡XUse of these medicines may decrease the effects of itraconazole and ketoconazole; these medicines should be ta
en at least 2 hours after itraconazole or ketoconazole
- Antidiabetic agents, oral (chlorpropamide [e.g., Diabinese], glipizide [e.g., Glucotrol], glyburide [e.g., DiaBeta, Micronase], tolbutamid
e [e.g., Orinase]) or
- Astemizole (e.g., Hismanal) or

Overdose
Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical treatment immediately.
Symptoms of Diflucan overdose may include:
- Hallucinations

What special precautions should I follow?
Liver problems may be more likely to occur if you drink alcoholic beverages while you are taking ketoconazole. Alcoholic beverages may also cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, or flushing
or redness of the face. Other alcohol-containing preparations (for example, elixirs, cough syrups, tonics) may also cause problems. These problems may occur for at least a day after you stop taking ke
toconazole. Therefore, you should not drink alcoholic beverages or use alcohol-containing preparations while you are taking this medicine and for at least a day after you stop taking it.

How should you take this medication?
Fluconazole comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any
part you do not understand. Take fluconazole exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Shake the liquid well before each use to
mix the medication evenly.
Continue to take fluconazole even if you feel well. Do not stop taking fluconazole without talking to your doctor.

Other medical problems
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of Diflucan. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:
- Congestive heart failure¡XItraconazole
ay slow down the heart rhythm and make heart failure worse.
- Achlorhydria (absence of stomach acid) or
- Hypochlorhydria (decreased amount of stomach acid)¡XItraconazole and ketoconazole ma
not be absorbed from the stomach as well in patients who have low levels of or no stomach acid
- Alcohol abuse (or history of) or
- Liver disease¡XAlcohol abuse or liver disease may increas
the chance of side effects caused by Diflucan
- Kidney disease¡XThe effects of fluconazole may be increased in patients with kidney disease

Side Effects of This Medicine
For women taking a single dose to treat vaginal infection, the most common side effects are abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, and nausea; changes in taste, dizziness, and indigestion may occur less
often.
Less common side effects may include:
