How should this medicine be used?
Imitrex tablets should be swallowed whole, with liquid. If you have had no relief 2 hours after taking Imitrex Tablets, you may take a second dose of up to 100 milligrams, if your doctor advises it. I
f the headache returns, you may take additional doses at intervals of at least 2 hours. You should not take more than 300 milligrams in one day. If your headache returns after you have had an Imitrex
Injection, you may take single Imitrex Tablets, at intervals of at least 2 hours, up to a maximum of 200 milligrams in a day.
Imitrex nasal spray is packaged in single-dose bottles containin
g either 5 or 20 milligrams of the drug. The usual dosage is a single spray in one nostril.

Overdosage
Seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of a Imitrex ( Sumatriptan ) overdose might include tremor, redness, or a warm feeling in your arms and legs, irregular breathing, large pupils; an uncoordin
ated feeling; and chest pain.

What special precautions should I follow?
Pregnancy¡X.Imitrex has not been studied in pregnant women. However, in some animal studies, .Imitrex caused harmful effects to the fetus. These unwanted effects usually occurred when .Imitrex was giv
n in amounts that were large enough to cause harmful effects in the mother.

Cautions
Before taking .Imitrex,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to .Imitrex or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are brea
st-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking .Imitrex, call your doctor.
- you should know that this drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this d
rug affects you.
- remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.

How should you take this medication?
If you feel much better after a dose of sumatriptan, but your headache comes back or gets worse after a while, you may use more sumatriptan. However, use this medicine only as directed by your doctor.
Do not use more of it, and do not use it more often, than directed. Using too much sumatriptan may increase the chance of side effects.
