What is this medicine
Nasacort are metered-dose inhalers containing the anti-inflammatory steroid medication, triamcinolone acetonide; Nasacort AQ is a metered-dose pump spray. Nasacort is used as long-term therapy to cont
rol bronchial asthma attacks. Nasacort and Nasacort AQ are prescribed to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other nasal allergies. Nasacort is also used in the treatment of nasal polyps (projecting
masses of tissue in the nose).

Before Using This Medicine
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of corticosteroids. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:
- Injury to the nose (recent) or <
br> - Nose surgery (recent) or
- Sores in the nose¡XNasal corticosteroids may prevent proper healing of these conditions
- Liver disease
- Tuberculosis (active or history of)
- Un
ractive thyroid
- Weak heart or
- Recent heart attack¡XUse of dexamethasone may worsen these conditions

Precautions while Using this Medicine
tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin), arthritis medication, aspiri
n, cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), digoxin (Lanoxin), diuretics ('water pills'), estrogen (Premarin), ketoconazole (Nizoral), oral contraceptives, phenobarbital, phenytoin (Dilantin), rifampin (Rif
adin), theophylline (Theo-Dur), and vitamins.

Significant Interactions:
Tell your health care professional if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines, such as:
- Ephedrine or
- Phenobarbital or
- Rifampin (e
.g., Rifadin)¡XEphedrine, phenobarbital, and rifampin may decrease the blood levels of nasal corticosteroids, such as dexamethasone, warranting an increase in corticosteroid dose

Proper Use of This Medicine
Triamcinolone comes as a solution to inhale through the nose. It usually is inhaled one to four times a day at evenly spaced intervals. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and
ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use triamcinolone exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

br> Triamcinolone controls allergy symptoms but does not cure them. Continue to use triamcinolone even if you feel well. Do not stop using triamcinolone without talking to your doctor.

Overdose
Acne; blurred vision; bone fractures; excess hair growth in females; fullness or rounding of the face, neck, and trunk; high blood pressure; impotence in males ; increased urination or thirst;
lack of menstrual periods; menstrual changes; muscle wasting and weakness
