Description
Nasal corticosteroids (kor-ti-ko-STER-oids) are cortisone-like medicines. They belong to the family of medicines called steroids. These medicines are sprayed or inhaled into the nose to help relieve t
he stuffy nose, irritation, and discomfort of hay fever, other allergies, and other nasal problems. These medicines are also used to prevent nasal polyps from growing back after they have been removed
by surgery.

Special warnings about this medication
Before using triamcinolone, - tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to triamcinolone or any other drugs. - if you have a nose infection or a fungal infection (other than on your
skin), do not use triamcinolone without talking to your doctor. - tell your doctor if you have or have ever had tuberculosis (TB); liver, kidney, intestinal, or heart disease; diabetes; an under
active thyroid gland; high blood pressure; mental illness; myasthenia gravis; osteoporosis; herpes eye infection; seizures; or ulcers. - tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregn
ant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while using triamcinolone, call your doctor.

Possible Side Effect
Although side effects from triamcinolone are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: - headache - nasal irritation or dryness
- sore throat - sneezing - nosebleed If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: - increased difficulty breathing - swollen
face, lower legs, or ankles - vision problems - cold or infection that lasts a long time - muscle weakness

Older adults¡XAlthough there is no specific information comparing use of nasal corticosteroids in the elderly with use in other age groups, they are not expected to cause different side effects or pro
lems in older people than they do in younger adults.

Overdosage
Acne; blurred vision; bone fractures; excess hair growth in females; fullness or rounding of the face, neck, and trunk; high blood pressure; impotence in males ; increased urination or thirst;
lack of menstrual periods; menstrual changes; muscle wasting and weakness

How to Use
Before you use triamcinolone the first time, read the written instructions that come with it. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or respiratory therapist to demonstrate the proper technique. Practice using
the inhaler while in his or her presence Before using triamcinolone, gently blow your nose to clear your nasal passages. Avoid blowing your nose for 15 minutes after inhaling the prescribed d
