What is this Drug
Mometasone nasal inhalation is used for the treatment and prevention of nasal symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergies, including runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose. Mometasone nasal inhalation
is in a class of medications called topical steroids. It works by reducing inflammation (swelling) in the nasal passages.

Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medication
Tell your health care professional if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines, such as: - Ephedrine or - Phenobarbital or - Rifampin (e
.g., Rifadin)¡XEphedrine, phenobarbital, and rifampin may decrease the blood levels of nasal Nasonex, such as dexamethasone, warranting an increase in corticosteroid dose

How should this medicine be used?
Nasonex nasal inhalation controls the nasal symptoms of allergies but does not cure them. You should begin to feel an improvement in your nasal allergies within 1--2 days of the first dose of Nasonex
nasal inhalation. It may take 1--2 weeks until you feel the full benefit of Nasonex nasal inhalation. Continue to use Nasonex nasal inhalation even if you feel well. Before you use Nasonex n
asal inhalation the first time, read the written instructions that come with it. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to show you how to use it. Practice using the inhaler while he or she watches.

Before Using This Medicine
Children¡XNasonex taken by mouth or injection have been shown to slow or stop growth in children and cause reduced adrenal gland function. If Nasonex are medically necessary to control nasal problems
n a child, nasal Nasonex are generally considered to be safer than Nasonex taken by mouth or injection. Prolonged or high-dose use of nasal Nasonex may potentially affect growth; although, most nasal
Nasonex have not been shown to affect growth. Before this medicine is given to a child, you and your child's doctor should talk about the good this medicine will do as well as the risks of using i
t.

What side effects may occur?
Mometasone nasal inhalation may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: - headache - vomiting - sore throat - cough Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately: - wheezing - vision changes - yeast infec
tion of the nose or throat - Mometasone nasal inhalation may cause children to grow more slowly. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking this medication.

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of Nasonex. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: - Amebiasis¡XNasal Nasonex may make this c
