How should you take this medication?
Prozac comes as a capsule, tablet, and liquid to take by mouth. It is usually taken once or twice a day and may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefull

What is this medicine
Prozac , an antidepressant (mood elevator), is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some eating disorders. Prozac (Sarafem) is used to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

Overdosage
Nausea and vomiting were prominent in overdoses involving higher fluoxetine doses. Other prominent symptoms of overdose included agitation, restlessness, hypomania, and other signs of CNS excitation,
including seizures.

Gastrointestinal:
Frequent: Nausea, disturbances of appetite, diarrhea.
Infrequent: Vomiting, stomatitis, dysphagia, eructation, esophagitis, gastritis, gingivitis, glossitis, melena, th

Rare: Bloody diarrhea, hematemesis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, duodenal ulcer, stomach ulcer, mouth ulceration, hyperchlorhydria, colitis, enteritis, c
holecystitis, cholelithiasis, hepatitis, hepatomegaly, liver tenderness, jaundice, increased salivation, salivary gland enlargement, tongue discoloration, fecal incontinence, pancreatitis.

Precautions
Hyponatremia: - Several cases of hyponatremia (some with serum sodium lower than 110 mmol/L) have been reported. The hyponatremia appeared to be reversible when fluoxetine was discontinued. Although t
hese cases were complex with varying possible etiologies, some were possibly due to the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). The majority of these occurrences have been in
older patients and in patients taking diuretics or who were otherwise volume depleted.
