Proper Use of This Medicine
Zoloft comes as a tablet and concentrate to take by mouth. It is usually taken once daily and may be taken with or without food. The discontinuatio n rate due to adverse events was 15% in 2710 subjects who received sertraline in premarketing multiple dose clinical trials.

Older adults—In studies done to date that have included elderly people, Zoloft did not cause different side effects or problems in older people than it did in younger adults. However, this medicine m y be removed from the body more slowly in older adults. An older adult may receive a lower dose of Zoloft than a younger adult, especially when first starting treatment.
